The Opportunity

The Edge Benefits is looking for a Quality Assurance Analyst, who will provide support to application development areas in relation to defect analysis, resolution processes and ensure impact of defects are understood, evaluated and communicated.

Intermediate Quality Assurance Analyst will report on functional defects, usability variances, and business process issues that may negatively impact production readiness or agreed upon acceptance criteria; closely work with Business Analyst to ensure business requirements are appropriately tested based on specification.

Specific duties:

· Working in partnership with Software Developers to design, create and deliver automated testing services for new applications or updating to existing applications and features.

· Define the test strategy and approach for a project or program.

· Design and create test plans in accordance with the testing strategy, project methodology and risks associated with the deliverables for various projects with an emphasis on automation for Life and Health Insurance applications.

·· You will analyze requirement specifications and system design documentation to provide QA estimates, QA resource plans, and QA test plans with emphasis on automation, using a risk-based approach to deliver projects on time.

· Creating test strategies for small and medium projects with an emphasis on automation.

· Assist with troubleshooting production defects by recreating error conditions in test environments, identifying gaps in test coverage, and retesting resolution of production issues.

· Develop and implement traceability matrix to trace requirements through design activities to testing.

· Execute test cases, report defects and track all outstanding issues until resolved.

· Develop and maintain automated testing tools, suites and scripts that support our test and production environments.

· Prepare test reports, provide initial issue analysis and contribute to defect prevention.

· Coordinate and manage resolution of problems encountered in testing for medium-to-large size projects, working with developers and analysts.

· Provide accurate time estimates for assigned tasks for self and others.

· Assume overall responsibility for developing and maintaining testing documentation.

· Conducting walk-throughs of testing documentation for medium-to-large projects.

· Participate and provide feedback in walk-through of other testing documentation.

Familiarity with Test Reports and ability to report test metrics to management

Note: Position is full-time work from home, open to Permanent Resident/ Candidates with approved work permit or citizen from any province residing in Canada.

Experience & Qualifications:

·· At least 2+ years of relevant systems testing experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience

· 2+ years’ quality testing experience in Life & Health Insurance or similar industry.

· Proven experience and working knowledge of systems such as TFS & JIRA is an asset.

· Experience writing SQL queries, interacting with SQL databases.

· Knowledge of automated tools such as Selenium.

· Ability to understand business processes and their translation to systems applications.

· Understanding of insurance principles and practices.

· Proven success in the design and implementation of automated functional and regression test suites with the use of automated testing tools.

· Strong verbal and written communication skills to communicate both internally and externally with personnel at all levels.

· Team player with a track record for meeting strict deadlines.

· Ability to disseminate information to various audiences, technical or non-technical.

· Complete assigned projects on schedule and produce high quality work

Knowledge of MGA/Broker systems

Required Education

· Degree in computer science or engineering equivalent.

· Experience working with multiple test automation tools/frameworks.
